Shed 3 Construction Updates

The complete renovation of Shed 3 began on January 5, 2009. The Shed, built in 1923, will receive a complete renovation including new concrete flooring with radiant heat, all new electrical, the addition of public restrooms, restoration of the original windows and more!
The project architect is Kraemer Design Group and the construction is being managed by a joint venture between KEO Construction and Turner Construction.
Construction is expected to take 10 months with final completion scheduled for October 2009. The Shed will be completely closed January-Mid April, when it will reopen for Saturday use only. Construction will continue during the week.

The construction is complete! What began on January 5, 2009 came to fruition in mid December 2009!
The Shed, built in 1923, received a complete renovation including new concrete flooring, all new electrical, the addition of public restrooms, restoration of the original windows and more!

All the windows are in and all the lights are installed and working. It looks great, especially at night and int eh early morning when it is still dark out.
The pre-cast concrete cornices arrived this past week and are being installed this week. The bathrooms are basically complete.

Things are really moving as we enter the home stretch. The rounded windows on the four facades have started to go in, the garage doors are 3/4 done, the bathrooms are getting finished, work on the cornice continues and the painting is 85% complete.

The first garage door went in today! They look great. Top windows should be wrapped up by early next week and the big windows will go in soon.

The first set of pedestrian doors were set today on the north wing of the shed. Installation of the garage doors will start tomorrow.

Windows started going in! The first windows were installed on the upper clerstory this week. Also, the bathrooms are almost complete, the electrical conduit rough-in continues and the painting has begun. For an idea of what the shed will look like when complete, check out the east wing.

Construction continues during the week and the Shed is used every Saturday. This week the large SHED 3 sign was placed on the roof, the parking lots got a final coat of ashphalt, much of the lower roof was installed, the bathrooms continue to be framed out and the prep began for the garage door installation.

The letters for the roof sign arrived today. If the weather cooperates the sign may be erected on Friday or Monday. The SHED 3 sign will look just like the SHED 2 sign and will help visitors know what shed they are in.

Demolition continues on the upper windows and the roof. With the old plastic removed, the Shed is much brighter and seems more open. It will be great when there are real glass windows in their place.

This week the crew is working diligently on removing the first batch of the plastic that was covering the upper window openings as well as building the walls for the bathroom. Once complete, Shed 3 will have modern restrooms, located in the shed, making it more comfortable for vendors and visitors.
