Shed 3 Construction Updates

The complete renovation of Shed 3 began on January 5, 2009. The Shed, built in 1923, will receive a complete renovation including new concrete flooring with radiant heat, all new electrical, the addition of public restrooms, restoration of the original windows and more!
The project architect is Kraemer Design Group and the construction is being managed by a joint venture between KEO Construction and Turner Construction.
Construction is expected to take 10 months with final completion scheduled for October 2009. The Shed will be completely closed January-Mid April, when it will reopen for Saturday use only. Construction will continue during the week.

On Wednesday, February 18th the initial grading was done and trench work began. The sanitary sewer pipes have been placed in the ground (we are adding bathrooms to the shed) and installation of the radiant heat pipes will begin soon.

Demolition continues.....the powerwashers worked over the weekend and finished up the inside cleaning. The crew has most of the cement ripped up, all the doors off, the windows on the north and south facades were removed and today they took down the fruit murals from the east side of the building.
All three murals came down in one piece and will be stored for future use...

On Friday the demo team started removing the garage doors and ripping up the concrete slabs. The majority of the powerwashing is complete.
