Off the "Deeb" End
Edward Deeb, long-time friend of the Eastern Market, is founder, president and CEO of the Michigan Business and Professional Association. He has over 44 years of association management experience. Mr. Deeb is also known for his dedication to community causes and serves on many boards that include Eastern Market Corporation (EMC), United Way, Salvation Army, American Red Cross, Boy Scouts and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeast Michigan. He personally co-founded Metro Detroit Youth Day which was created to encourage harmony between merchants and the youth of Metro Detroit some 22 years ago. Mr. Deeb has received numerous awards and honors for his community involvement.
Mr. Deeb will be sharing his thoughts on the amazing transformation that is taking place at Eastern Market, from time to time, via this blog post.

Mark your calendars! There are two important events involving Eastern Market and Eastern Market Corporation coming up soon. The first is a "Celebration of Farmers and Merchants" at Eastern Market with a dinner being held Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at Ford Field. Shopping at Eastern Market on Tuesdays has been quite popular according to the various vendors at The Market. Many people who are unable to be at The Market on Saturdays like the fact that they can get there on Tuesdays and it is not quite as crowded. Being Kept Very Busy
A relative of Sal and Ann Ciaramitaro, Dominic Ciaramitaro, a member
of the U.S. Marines was killed recently in Afghanistan. Since news of this
tragedy spread, Sal and Ann have been swamped with phone calls from

Michigan? This has gone along with all the emphasis on freshness,
nutrition and the Pure Michigan campaign being run by the Michigan's Agriculture Dept. Coupled with the concern that too many of us

Before Eastern Market located to its current site, it was located in Detroit's downtown area where the current bus terminal is, west of Woodward. The Market moved to its present site in 1891 and has operated here since, or for 120 years.
Today Eastern Market is a bustling shopping area for all types of food, meat, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and an entire variety of things all in one area...

Boy, what a difference between the Eastern Market of years gone by and the Eastern Market of today! The Market is looking so much better and is attracting many new shoppers. Bottom line: The excitement is back at Eastern Market!
And have you noticed that new farmers markets are cropping up in many cities, not only throughout southeastern Michigan, but all over the state...
